The project team is responsible for safely cleaning up and taking down hundreds of excess facilities, cleaning up waste sites and burial grounds, and placing deactivated plutonium production reactors in interim safe storage.

The project is scheduled to be completed in 2012 and in that time, we will decontaminate and remove 510 facilities, close or remediate 486 waste sites, cocoon three reactors, and dispose of about four million tons of contaminated material.
